A true icon of design furniture, the Butterfly chair was invented in Argentina. It was created by three architects: the Catalan Antoni Bonet and the Argentinians Juan Kurchan and Jorge Ferrari Hardoy, all trained in Le Corbusier’s studio in Paris. In the late 1930s, they sought to redefine design by combining elegance with clean lines and beauty with natural simplicity. An iconic piece was born.
Reimagined in cowhide, this Butterfly chair offers a generous and comfortable seat. It fits perfectly into a chalet or countryside home while standing out as a statement piece in a contemporary interior.
- Genuine Argentinian leather
- Handcrafted production
- 100% natural
An Iconic Design With a Unique Character
The cowhide Butterfly chair captivates through its iconic design. It features a sturdy metal frame paired with a carefully selected natural cowhide seat.
This combination of materials gives the chair both a rustic and contemporary appearance, making it perfectly suited to a wide range of interior styles — from modern and industrial to bohemian spaces.
Its light, suspended silhouette invites relaxation while bringing an unmistakable decorative presence to the room.

Different from the others
The three designers behind the Butterfly chair, “BKF,” were inspired by the Fenby Chair, also known as the Tripolina. Widely used for expeditions in the early 20th century, these chairs had to be lightweight. As a result of this heritage, Butterfly chairs remained relatively narrow for many years.
We chose a design with more generous proportions — a wider, more comfortable chair.
FAQs
Vegetable tanning is a traditional craft method that transforms leather using natural tannins extracted from tree bark, leaves, or roots. More respectful of both the material and the passage of time, this process reveals the natural richness of the leather, its subtle nuances, and its ability to develop a beautiful patina over the years. Each piece therefore acquires a unique and lasting character.
